Rainy Day in Florida

I wanted to stop in and say hello to whoever might come here to read or to see some pictures. You'd never know from the way I don't write these days, that I used to keep a daily journal (I think from the time I was 15 years old, until probably sometime in my early 30's! EVERY single day.)

I got home early Friday morning (around 1 a.m.) from a business trip to Colorado Springs. I think the busy week, time zone and altitude change, have all finally caught-up with me. Today I felt like I'd been sucked dry by a vampire bat. I felt positively anemic-like. No energy. Zapped. We had lofty plans to take the kids to a childrens' museum, or even to Chuck E. Cheese's. Well, it got too late to go to the museum, and I figured Chuck E. Cheese's was the last place on earth I should be feeling the way that I do. Hopefully, we'll make up for it tomorrow; even if it is just a trip to the beach or something more relaxing like that.

This afternoon, there was a strong storm that blew threw with lots of lightening. We hunkered down and watched a movie. The funny thing was that Edilberto had started barbequing before the storm really hit. So he had to finish up the cooking of the meat during the worst of it. It was funny (and a bit scary) watching him dash in and out to and from the back patio between lightening strikes! He got the meat cooked though. I'm glad he didn't get cooked.

Liam discovered chess on the computer during this time (which was unplugged and only on battery power to be safe). He basically taught himself (I did explain very quickly the moves each piece makes, but he mostly discovered it on his own). He loved it! He asked me if we could buy a chess board. I wonder who he's going to play with since I don't really like to play; maybe his Papai will? I guess I'll be forced to play at some point; but it sure will be humiliating to be beaten by a 7 year old!
