Happy Birthday to Me?!

Here's what I got for my birthday today:

I have asked for this for as long as I can remember. My kids were thrilled to carry-out my desire to have a chocolate cream pie thrown in my face. Of course, the whole family had to share in the fun! Aren't we just yummy?

A Nice Evening

O.K. so I cracked the whip and got everyone out for an early evening walk. It didn't matter that it was early evening, it was still 90 degrees outside (varying because there was sort of a "breeze" as we got closer to the water. But still, we were all quite sticky when we got home.) The kids and Edil were already tired from having swam earlier. I was determined we'd get out and walk to the park. The park along the causeway is only 3 blocks from home. I must admit, it was a bit too hot. But we had a great time just getting out together for a while. On the walk home, the sun went behind some menacing looking clouds. It was perfect timing because we were heading West with the sun setting. Can you guess who dressed Liam? Liam of course. I must hide that shirt. I'll bet when it's time to make a rag out of it, he'll ask me to make it into a pillow for him! We BBQ'd some chicken and watched a movie together. It was a nice evening.

Recap of the Week

It's been a few days since I've blogged. Here's a recap of the past week which included the 4th of July celebration. I loved the long weekend. All we did was hang-out at home. For the 4th, we barbequed. It started raining at around 8 p.m. The city was to have a fireworks show off the pier, but according to their website, if it rained they would do the show the next day instead. Also, the show was supposed to start at 9 p.m. Since we thought there'd be no show, we thought we'd get the kids ready for bed. We were all tired anyways. Well, at 8:30 p.m. "Boom," "Boom," "Boom." We looked out of the back window and saw that the show had gone on inspite of the rain, and 30 MINUTES earlier than they had said. How dare they? Liars! So, we piled into the van, drove a couple of blocks to the South, and to an unobstructed vantage point to see the show, and through windshield wipers, we watched. It was a little "interesting" to see a heavy cloud forming around where the fireworks were exploding. All the water in the air just made the smoke from the fireworks hang. Eventually, the colors were hidden mostly behind this forming cloud. It was the strangest fireworks show I've ever seen. I'd say a waste of city money! We had fun anyway and took some pictures together in the van just to remember:

Well, today we tried out my friend Kristin's (http://easyaspie.typepad.com/my_weblog/2008/06/321blast-off.html) suggestion of Mentos with Coca-Cola blast-off. I should have reread her blog that said SIX Mentos. We only put in THREE and did just get half of what it could have given! Oh, and there's the one-liter not two detail, and also the "diet" detail that we missed. Now looking back at her picture at the previous link, I am laughing at ours that peetered out!!! Too funny! Check out ours:

Here's something worth mentioning: Liam made this cute little sock puppet today. You can't see his face in this picture, but the puppet has a little Newsboy cap and a shirt on:

And here's the little darling girl being so dainty with her corn this evening:

And the tired mother hen with her chicks:

Good night!

Middle of the Week

I'm looking forward to the long 4th of July weekend! It's been a long week (even though it's technically a short one.) I am tired and looking forward to hanging-out with the family. There's a lot I could blog about. I never feel I have adequate time to write well about things that are going on in the world and in our lives.

I just have a moment to share something funny Isabella said. She and I have our "Girls' Club" time and we often will say loudly, "Girls Rock!" Well, I think she takes this literally as she states it like this...."Girls Rock!" "Boys Pebble!" I guess they're smaller rocks than girls are in her opinion. Life according to Isabella. She's too funny that girl and often her personality seems larger than life. She takes the bull by the horns (speaking figuratively, I hope.)
