Thanks, Robin! I've been wanting to upgrade to an SLR for a long time (I was missing my old film camera and all of the lenses). Recently, I received this very generous gift. We went camera shopping and I got the D60. I reread your posts before I went shopping, as well researched some other places on-line and went to two camera shops. I settled on the D60 (would have been happy with the D40, but my generous gift-giver insisted I go with the D60!) Some of the pics. on my blog are straight from the camera, and others (the last post) I did some effects to on Microsoft "Picture It" Photo Premium 9 software (the black and white of Isa, the cat photo, Liam on the Boogie board, and the last one of Isabella - just softened the edges on that one.)
I also am back at my photography obsession and loving it!

You're taking some great pictures Janice! (And of course the superadorable subject matter doesn't hurt either.)
What kind of Nikon did you get? I've got a D40 and I'm loving it. Are you doing any kind of post-processing or are these straight out of the camera?
(Yes, I'm a wee bit photography-obsessed these days.)
